COLOR and CARPET

Did you know that Sir Isaac Newton first discovered that color is not inherent in objects?  Rather, an object’s color [as perceived by the human eye and brain] results from light reflected off of an object.  Every object reflects some colors and absorbs others.  [The exceptions:  white which represents an object reflecting ALL light; black which absorbs them all.]  People perceive, or see, only reflected colors.

Carpet reflects color.  Our patented trilobal design described in fiber technology reflects color really well so that you get ultimate purity and saturation in your color choices rather than a chalky or flat carpet.  Every color, every shade, every hue – all contribute to Beauty!

Carpet is increasingly referred to as the “5th wall” since it absolutely plays a role in the overall effect you are trying to create in your home.  For that reason, you may opt to go with a vibrant color that coordinates with other strong elements in your room, or you may prefer a more understated effect that blends in with other elements in your room. The choice is yours to select from a myriad of beautiful colors, patterns and textures!

Pick a color, any color
Our palette is endless. We live in a world of seductive reds, deep blues, rich greens and every possible shade or hue that can be imagined in-between. To create the perfect room, you need that perfect carpet color. So we offer an infinite spectrum of brilliant colors that stand the test of time, and enable you to fashion your masterpiece.

Our Warms: From burnt oranges to ravishing scarlets, the warmer side of our color wheel is sure to ignite even the coldest of interiors.  One look at these fiery chromas and your feet will want to run out and paint the town red.  Warms are particularly effective in spaces where you want friends and family to gather, linger and enjoy the warmth of your hospitality. They can convey a sense of light in the darkest of rooms.
Our Cools: Our bold cyans and serene spa-inspired aquas will stop you in your tracks—but keep on walking. You won’t want to miss the icy slate blues. And as long as you’re in the neighborhood, stop and smell the blushing violets. Cools are particularly effective in rooms where you want to convey a sense of relaxation and calmness, perhaps for a room where you can retreat from the world.
Our Brights:  Have you every been told your really light up a room? Us too. Our saturated, pure brights are powered from within. Imagine brilliant lemony yellow or starry white, or even show-stopping primaries. You’ll squint for joy. Lighter brights can work wonders for small spaces, making them seem larger.
Our Darks:  Everyone has a darker side.  Ours is made of rich mahogany, decadent chocolate, regal purple and the occasional bout of midnight madness. Darker colors can create cozy intimate spaces out of large ones.

Some practical considerations
For high-traffic common areas, you might consider colors and patterns that don’t draw attention to the normal coming and goings of your household. The snowiest white may not be the best color choice for the hallway from your garage to your kitchen – assuming you have lots of comings and goings from that part of the house. You might prefer, instead, a medium or darker color or a flecked Berber style.

As you think about color options, consider what other fabrics, patterns, textures or elements you want to unify in your room to create the environment you want. Take swatches with you to the store, and then bring the carpet samples back to your home. You will want to examine your carpet samples in your home in the specific room and location to evaluate it under the variety of differing light sources [e.g., daylight and/or incandescent, fluorescent, halogen…] available in different proportions during the day as well as at night. Colors shift depending on the context of their environment and you want to be delighted with the effect of your carpet regardless of the context.

Footnote: When it comes to color theory, you should know that everything else is relative. No color is absolutely warm or absolutely cool. A good rule of thumb is to pair complementary colors [hues on opposite sides of the color wheel]. This usually results in a room that generates highly complimentary remarks!
